  • 8/7: The rumours are true! LEVEL 42 - THE ULTIMATE COLLECTION
Latest news from Polydor/Universal is the upcoming release of "Level 42 - The Ultimate Collection", a 3-CD set.  The first two CD’s will contain all the single releases in chronological order of release (including all RCA/BMG singles).  The third disc will contain bonus tracks, Mark & Mike’s solo singles, and a brand new track by the new lineup of Level 42.  It will be released in the U.K. and Holland early in October, and elsewhere in Europe shortly afterwards.  It will be a t.v. advertised release in the U.K., Holland and probably Germany too.  It has been digitally remastered throughout and will be released in October.

  • 8/6: Yesterday I received Stuart Clayton's Level 42 Bass Transcriptions Volume 3 in the mail, and it is AWESOME!! If you are a bass player, other musician (or if you just like the music), you MUST get this book! Stuart has 2 other books out (details in the TABLATURE section) and this 3rd one is the BEST YET!
Volume 3 is a larger than the previous two volumes and contains 24 tracks in both standard notation and tablature:

A Floating Life, A Pharaohs Dream (Of Endless Time), Clocks Go Forward, Coup D’Etat, Dance On Heavy Weather, Freedom Someday, Good Man In A Storm, Goodbye Ray Schmidt-Volk, Heaven In My Hands, Hours By The Window (Demo), I Sleep On My Heart, It’s Not The Same For Us, I Want Eyes, Leaving Me Now, My Hero, Seven Days, Take A Look, The Essential, The Sleepwalkers, To Be With You Again, Tracie, Why Are You Leaving?, World Machine, Bass Solo Live @ Wembley 1986

The style and presentation of the book has been greatly improved from the previous volumes, and makes for a much clearer, easier read. Volume 3 is printed on slightly heavier paper to eliminate show-through, has a printed card cover, and is Wire bound, which is much better and stronger than the comb binding. Due to the larger size, the price has increased from the previous books.

    In UK: £18 + £2 Postage and Packaging = £20
    Outside UK: £18 + £5 Postage and Packaging = £23

To order, please send a cheque payable to Stuart Clayton to:

  • 7/19: NEW YCB ALBUM "ULTRA-VIOLET" REVIEW!
YCB's brand new CD "Ultraviolet" arrived in the mail yesterday, and let me tell you, it's been great fun driving around listening to Brit Funk (Play LOUD!)

8 brand new songs ranging from Jazz Funk to Fusion, like the early instrumentals of Level 42. On every song you'll hear tight hi-hat work (and the occasional double bass pedal), smooth walking bass and fat slapping bass, keyboards ranging from synth to B3, rocking guitar and ol' funky "wacka-ja-wacka" wah pedal guitar, alt and tenor sax melodies (even harmonized) and to top it all off: Sean Freeman of Level 42 plays guest saxophone on "Slaptastic" and "YCB3"!

2 live tracks are included from the show at Cafe De Luchpost in Holland, and if you haven't heard the full show, ORDER IT NOW! It was professionally recorded at Levelfest 2001 by Pascal Koolen and Richard de Jong.

Visit Y-CHROMO-BOYZ.COM and order "Ultraviolet" or any of their other albums! Not convinced? Listen to "Panoramic Fantasy" in RealAudio!
